What can I DO to "be prepared" and "be on alert" in case of another attack from the 'evil-doers"?
Your very nervous son
Your question continues to be the one most asked of President Bush, by Americans and the American press.. Before September 11th, we here in America did very little about protecting ourselves from terrorism, mainly because we didn't realize how hated we were by our enemies. Because of that, we were not prepared when the "evil-doers" attacked us.
The Bible tells us that we are not to be ignorant of Satan's (the 'evil-doer's) devices, lest he should take advantage of us. (2 Corinthians 2:11)
Just as the terrorists attacked our country, so Satan attacks you?if you let him.
What can you do? You can "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil?that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Ephesians 6:11&13) Our "armor" consists of faith, righteousness (right living), and God's written Word. That's how Jesus defeated Satan during His temptation in the wilderness. Jesus said over and over, "it is written".
As you read through verse 20 of that same chapter, you will find that our enemies are "not flesh and blood, but principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this age, and spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." This is why President Bush continues to tell us that our enemy is terrorism, and all those who embrace and tolerate it.
So, what can you do? One way to head off the devil before he attacks you is to ask yourself, "If I were the devil, how would I attack myself?" "What are my greatest weaknesses?" Then, you deal with those areas of weakness and strengthen them, so that you are not vulnerable. That is what America is doing now, consulting with those who are familiar with the terrorist mindset and behavior pattern so that we will not be "ignorant of the devil's devices" yet again.
What can you do? Protect yourself, your family, and all else that concerns your physical safety, the same way you protect yourself in the spiritual realm. Speak the Word of God OUT LOUD on your behalf; know that God hates fear, and remember that if God be with you, who can be against you? Only the devil?and Jesus defeated him at the cross!
