Dear God - Is There A Purpose For My Life?
by Gail Ramsey
I feel so helpless and confused. What am I supposed to be doing? Do I have a "calling", a purpose on this earth? I used to think so; but my dreams have disappeared.
Dear Sons and Daughters,
"Stand up and be counted!"
This is a word God spoke to me several months ago while I was in prayer contemplating my past, present, and future. I believe it is a word for ALL of God's children.
As the world around us continues to grow darker and darker, God's light and power is beginning to shine brighter and stronger. God is searching throughout the whole earth to find those whose hearts are committed to Him, so He can show Himself strong on their behalf. (2 Chron. 16)
God wants to turn loose His might, power and glory on the earth; but He must flow that power and glory through His people. Who will He use? Whom will He choose? Daniel 11:32 says, "The people that know their God shall be strong, and do great exploits."
You DO have a purpose on this earth! God assures you of that in Jeremiah 29:11. He also reminds you (in John 15:16) that HE CHOSE YOU! And, that because He chose you, He had a specific plan for you; a plan with a built-in guarantee of success! All you have to do is choose Him, and let go of everything else. He will lead the way. He will do the work. He will bring you into success.
Your job is to get to know Him, and be obedient. You have a divine destiny! There is nobody else on the planet with your fingerprints! You are special to God! DON'T LISTEN when the enemy, or your "friends", family, or others try to tell you you're worthless, inadequate, too poor, too stupid, and too ugly to ever be important YOU ARE THE APPLE OF GOD'S EYE!
Find your gift. Destiny is not a matter of chance, but a matter of choice?not to be waited on, but pursued! "How do I find my destiny?" you ask. What is the deepest desire of your heart? Proverbs 16:9 says, "A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." God says "Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4) There are two truths here: 1.) As I delight in knowing and serving God, He places desires within me. He causes me to desire those things that are in His plan for my life. 2.) As I delight in knowing and serving God, He gives me the things I desire.
Not everyone will understand your vision. You know Charlie Brown? Well, he and Lucy were having a conversation one-day, and Charlie lifted up his hands and said, "these hands may someday accomplish great things. These hands may someday hit homeruns, heal the sick, and build mighty bridges. These hands may one day change the course of destiny!" Lucy takes a look at his hands and says, "They've got jelly on 'em." She didn't see what he saw. There will be people like that. Do you want the approval of man or the blessing of God?
This is the day and the hour for you to STAND UP AND BE COUNTED! God wants heaven to be the record and earth, the witness. Jesus was the Word made flesh. He reflected His Father's glory. Now, Jesus says, "as the Father sent me, so send I you." Same way. God wants to take you to a whole new level; to separate you from the crowd.
