Expose Darkness: Catholic Scandal
If you could only read my emails, you would the raw emotion from all sides. I'm talking about the pedophile and sex scandal's rocking the Catholic Church.

Some of the news articles are just downright bazaar. Catholic.com reporters John Burger and Kathryn Lopez interview Philip Jenkins, professor of history and religious studies at Pennsylvania State University, who wrote Pedophiles and Priests: Anatomy of a Contemporary Crisis. The title of their article is: Media Myths Fuel the Clergy Abuse Scandal.
Professor Jenkins says about the crisis, "It certainly is not about pedophiles." When asked the question: "Is the Catholic Church getting an unfair rap in the media because the media fundamentally misunderstand all this?" He responds: "I think so". Professor Jenkins is wrong and so are many others.
Let me say this is not a Catholic problem alone, though the controversy over the handling of Priests accused of sexually abusing children has grown exponentially.
This is a Protestant problem too. Campus Crusade for Christ has just reportedly suspended featured speaker Pastor Haman Cross Jr. for having "inappropriate physical relationships with three parishioners."
Lives are being torn apart. But many people are just missing the bigger picture; God's picture.
Let me make what I think are two critical points. Number One: you cannot hide sin from God! Number Two: Accountability is everything!
God knows you inside and out. Psalm 139:1-3. " O Lord you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all of my ways."
Nobody who trusts Christ with his or her life falls on purpose. John 10:10. "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy..." but we must also remember, 1 John 3:5 "No one who lives in him keeps on sinning."
Sin will destroy you if you let it. It's time to be honest with your self and God. 2 Cor. 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Job 11:13-15 "If you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift your fact without shame; you will stand firm and without fear."
Still everyday day Christians fall. Sometimes it's a stubbed toe and sometimes it's crashing to the ground. It matters how we all get up. God wants us to grab onto his hand. We cannot do it alone and God knows it. Which bring me to the next critical point: Accountability.
If you do not have an accountability partner, get one today. An accountability partner is someone who will help you walk the walk; encourage, admonish. It is someone who can listen to your most intimate secrets, as you both work toward that special relationship with Christ.
Proverbs 27:6 "wounds from a friend can be trusted." Galatians 6:1 "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently."
