Dear God!

I Feel Manipulated
by Gail Ramsey

Dear God!

I just can't seem to take charge of my life. I feel that everthing and everyone around me has more power than I do. Sometimes I feel like a puppet on a string, or a fly caught in a spider web. How can I break free and take charge of my own life?

Your Struggling Son

Dear Son,

Stop the struggle! Realize that the only power other people or situations have over you is the power you give them.

All over the world, millions of lives are being wasted because people are sitting, waiting, withering, dying, - not growing, but groveling; not producing, but procrastinating; not attaining, but complaining; not self-sustaining but self-condemning. Why? Because either they don't realize the power they have through Christ, or they haven't hooked up with Him yet.

If you're a Christian, you have all the power that exists (both naturally and supernaturally) at your fingertips; or, shall we say "on your lips". "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." (Proverbs 18:21) Watch your mouth! What are you speaking? Watch your heart! What are you believing? "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks," (Matthew 12:34)

To speak into existence the things you desire does not mean you must deny or lie about the facts. It means that you look past the facts and into the future with faith. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) "Even God, who gives life to the dead, calls those things which do not exist as though they did" (Romans 4:17)

God doesn't want to put you down. He wants to lift you up! He doesn't want you to focus on your problem. He wants to give you a solution!

A woman with an issue of blood (in Mark chapter 5) had suffered greatly for twelve years. When she heard about Jesus, she SAID, "If only I might touch His clothes, I shall be made well." (Verse: 28, emphasis mine) Immediately, as she touched His garment she was healed. She received exactly what she SAID. Notice she didn't say, "If He lays hands on me", or "If He prays for me"; but "If I might touch His clothes".

Jairus, on the other hand, had asked Jesus (in verse 23) to "come and lay hands on (his daughter) so that she would be healed and live" As Jesus and Jairus walked to Jairus's house, people ran out from the house saying "your daughter is dead." (Verse: 35) "As soon as Jesus heard (those negative) words that were spoken, He said (to Jairus) "Do not be afraid; only believe." In other words, Jesus was warning Jairus NOT to SPEAK DEATH when He was bringing life. From that moment, Jesus permitted no one to follow Him except His disciples.

The crowd laughed at Him; but Jesus "put them all out, and took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, (His disciples) and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, ? 'Little girl, I say to you, arise. Immediately the girl arose and walked" (verse: 40-42)

If you REALLY want to take charge of your life, you MUST "put out" doubt and unbelief, both from people around you, and from your own heart, and mouth.
