The Truth Will Set You Free!

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
(Acts 17:11)

Jews Discredit Letter to Bush

by Fred Jackson

(AgapePress) …A group of Christian Jews is denouncing a letter written by 60 Protestants to President Bush calling on him to take a more pro-Palestinian stand in the Middle East.

Among the 60 pro-Palestinian Protestants is author Tony Campolo, evangelist Leighton Ford, and Christianity Today editor David Neff. In their letter to Bush, they criticize such things as the Israeli settlements on the West Bank, calling them "unlawful" and "degrading." In their words, "the theft of Palestinian land and the destruction of Palestinian homes" is a major cause of Palestinian terrorism.

Dr. Mitch Glaser is president of the group Chosen People Ministries. He says the letter by the 60 is far more a reflection of just how much some American evangelicals have been influenced by radical Palestinian propaganda.

He says the issue at stake is whether the Jewish people have a "divine deed" to the land of Israel. Glaser says multitudes of evangelicals believe that to be true, but it would appear these 60 do not.

According to Glaser, the scriptural and political right of Israel to exist must be accepted because only then will there be a sound basis for future peace negotiations.
