Don't Hate the Wait
As we step into the year 2003, some of you are still waiting on God to bless you in a specific area of your life. You've prayed about it, God told you He would bring it to pass, but it hasn't happened yet. You're probably starting to question and doubt if it will ever happen. The "delay" is disappointing you and despair is creeping up on you. You're in God's "waiting room" anxiously anticipating your blessing.

The word wait is defined as "to remain in a state of readiness or expectation." It also says "to act as an attendant or server" like a waiter who serves you in a restaurant. Why is it that when we go out to eat we ask for what we want, the waiter tells us our food is coming, and we trust that within a reasonable amount of time, our meal will be served to us. But when it comes to God we make our requests, God speaks to us and says it shall be done, but if it doesn't happen in the amount of time "we" think it should, we begin to doubt and trust goes out the window. My sisters and brothers, "Don't Hate the Wait."
The Bible encourages us in the book of Isaiah: 40:31 "But those who wait for the Lord's help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles' wings, they run without getting weary, they walk without getting tired." And there's always that phrase that many of us heard while growing up. "Good things come to those who wait." If you're reading this and you find yourself in the "waiting room" remember not to just sit there and do nothing. Don't sit around and complain about what's "not" happening in your life. While you're waiting don't be inactive, but active about the things of God. Attend to God's business and trust that He will take care of "your" business. Sometimes we forget that the events of our lives are God's business. He cares about what's happening with you right now. So, trust that God's working on it and in the meantime keep your mind focused on the things of God. Continually seek Him in all that you do and your waiting will go by much smoother.
It is a trick of the enemy to make you doubt God. He gets you all caught up in a timetable and then ties your expectations and emotions into it. When things don't happen when you want them to, you begin to believe that God is not going to deliver on His promise to you. DANGER! Be very careful of this because you will begin to put your trust and faith in your own strength and ability instead of waiting for the Lord to bring you through. You begin to rationalize things that you know go against the unctioning of the Holy Spirit that is in you and you settle for less than God's best. All because you began to "Hate the Wait".
God's time is not our time and His ways are not our ways. That watch and calendar you keep monitoring won't give you any clue to when your waiting season will end. It's all in God's time. God knows the perfect time to call your name in the waiting room. Have you ever thought that maybe you're not ready to receive your blessing at this moment? That God's trying to work something in you so that you will be able to properly handle the blessing. Let me encourage you by saying your waiting is not in vain. If God has promised you something he will deliver because he cannot lie. Try not to become frustrated and weary because God is preparing a pair of eagles' wings just for you. You will soar over your circumstances and into the blessings of God. Just don't "Hate the Wait". Use your waiting period to study the word more and serve God with a new zeal! And never lose sight of where every good and perfect gift comes from...God.
I know that being in the waiting room can be a challenging period in your life, but God has given you everything you need to meet that challenge. Ask him to give you the right "waiting attitude". Waiting means you have an attitude of readiness, so make sure you are doing all that God is calling you to do. Don't be caught off guard, begin to prepare your heart and mind to receive the blessing. That means you must kick "doubt" to the curb. Believe that you will receive what you're waiting for. If God said it, believe it and take Him at his word. And keep your eyes on Jesus instead of your calendar. He will direct your path and you will not miss your blessing. What God has for you is for you. Trust Him. Serve Him. Praise and Worship Him. Love Him. Do all of these things while you're waiting on Him.
Don't Hate the Wait. Appreciate this time of serving and growing in the Lord. He waited for you to accept and receive Him...can't you do the same?
