The Truth Will Set You Free!

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and
searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
(Acts 17:11)

Dear God!

Are You Going To Heal Me?

by Gail Ramsey

Dear God!

How can I know for sure that you are going to heal me? I want to believe that you will; but I've been waiting so long, and seem to be getting weaker day-by-day.

Your desperate daughter, Trish

Dear Daughter,

Jesus said that unless we "become as little children, (we) will by no means see the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 18:3)

Little children simply believe. They expect you to do what you say you will do. They rejoice in anticipation of the promise you've made to them. If you tell them you're going to take them to Disneyland on Friday, they'll put on their Mickey Mouse ears on Tuesday. They'll dance around the house in joyful expectation of your promise. They simply believe.

Although we, as mere mortals sometimes don't keep our word, God is not a man…He doesn't lie. (Num. 23:19) He can't lie. He is truth! That which He has promised, He will also perform. That's why we can trust Him completely, and have faith that He will always come through for us.

"God said it. I believe it. That settles it." Should be our motto. Many people don't see the fruition of the promise because they give up believing. They abort their dreams. "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength: they will mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

"Wait" doesn't mean to sit around twiddling our thumbs, wondering when God is going to show up! To "wait" means to wait on the Lord as a waiter who serves you in a fine restaurant. We are to continually praise and worship God for His faithfulness to always deliver that which He has promised. We thank Him not only for what we're asking today, but for all the many blessings He's given us in the past. We praise Him and worship Him because He's God! He is good! He is faithful! This lets God know that we trust Him. We believe Him. We have faith in Him. "Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11:6)

When we say things like "I don't know how I'm going to make it", or "It doesn't look like things are ever going to get better", it says to God that we don't trust Him, that we don't believe His Word. The Bible says "He knows those who trust in Him" (Nahum 1:7) What God has written in His Word, He is faithful to perform if we trust Him and do not doubt. "for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind…let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways (James 1:6&7) Jesus died for you. "by whose stripes you were healed". (1Pe. 2:24)

Simply believe!
