The Truth Will Set You Free!

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and
searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
(Acts 17:11)

…A NEW THING?

by Ben Kinchlow

"…. God is doing a new thing. … God is teaching us about gays and lesbians as being his children." V. Gene Robinson, Bishop-Elect, Episcopal Church.

" … they became foolish and godless in their thinking, with vain imaginings, foolish reasonings, stupid speculation, and their senseless minds were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools. Professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves." Paul, Apostle of Jesus Christ.

In a recent interview on the "Today" show, Bishop Robinson made the statement, "God is doing a new thing." He even defended his "coming out" as a "risk taken for the gospel." On a webpage, he declares that he "answered God's call to acknowledge myself as a gay man…"

If ever there was a clear illustration of a scriptural truth, it is this activity. There is a word for this: apostasy. In Romans chapter 1 verses 23 through 32, Paul talks about those who have become apostates. They adopted foolish concepts of God, fooling themselves, and as a result, God gave them over to "uncleanness." (Please note that "uncleanness," according to some conservative commentators, is a scriptural term for "homosexuality and other sex perversions of men and women.") Verse 24 says, "God gave them up to the lust of their own hearts, to sexual impurity, to dishonoring their bodies among themselves, abandoning them to the degrading power of sin." Even a brief view of what's happening in our society today confirms this awful truth. "…they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature (creation) rather than the Creator."

Bishop Robinson, in order to answer "God's call" to acknowledge his homosexuality, divorced his wife (forbidden by God), abandoned his two daughters (forbidden by God), and moved in with another homosexual man (forbidden by God). Compare the Bishop's answering of "God's call" with God's Word. "…men turned from natural relations with women and were set ablaze with lust for one another…committing shameful acts with men." Can there be any clearer illustration and example than the foregoing?

When you consider, in proper context, the baseness of this action, you can only sorrowfully view the judgment awaiting them. With no attempt at commentary, let the Word speak for itself.

"…Women did change their natural use into that which is against nature. And likewise the men, leaving the natural use of the women, burned in their lust one toward another…and so since they did not see fit to acknowledge God or approve of him, or consider Him worth the knowing, God gave them over to a reprobate (base and condemned) mind to do things that are not proper or decent, but loathsome, until they were filled (permeated and saturated) with every kind of unrighteousness and iniquity… inventors of new forms of evil…without understanding, conscienceless... they not only do those things themselves, but approve and applaud others who practice them." (Bishop Robinson is one of the founders of "Concord Outright," a group that encourages "gay/lesbian/questioning" teens.)

Please pray for the Episcopal Church membership. As for the offending clergy and assenting members, consider the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. "Let them alone and disregard them. They be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."
