Mary Mary's Tina Campbell Welcomes "Incredible" New Addition

  Tina Campbell

(Los Angeles, Ca.) Tina Campbell, one half of the platinum-selling sister duo Mary Mary recently welcomed an "Incredible" new addition to her family. Campbell and husband Teddy welcomed their first baby, daughter on Tuesday September 9.

Laiah Simone Campbell, the five pound four ounce baby girl, could not wait any longer and to everyone's surprise came into the world sixteen days earlier than scheduled. "I was happy, excited and anxious that she was early," said Tina.

As if being a successful member of a platinum selling group, an author and wife isn't enough, Tina has chosen to conquer yet another astounding task by becoming a mother. "Laiah is so beautiful," said Campbell. I can't believe I'm a mother'."

To date Mary Mary has earned a slew of accolades including a Grammy for Best Contemporary Gospel Album, four Dove Awards, three Stellar Awards and a Soul Train Award to name a few.

Most recently the duo chose to share their lives with the world in their new book Transparent: Between the Fire and the Rain is the Truth. Transparent takes readers on Erica and Tina's journey from growing up in Inglewood, California with gospel-singing parents and six other siblings, to singing with secular R & B and soul performers and putting out platinum-selling Christian albums, all without sacrificing their beliefs. The sisters share how their faith in Jesus Christ helped them overcome personal and professional obstacles. This book appeals not only to Christians, but to anyone who appreciates strong music and a strong sense of integrity. Mary Mary says their aim is to make music that the entire world, every age and nationality, can relate to. They want the world to be uplifted by their music. Transparent is a celebration of these values.

Be on the look out for Mary Mary's new debut single from the "Gotta Have Gospel" compilation CD on Integrity/Gospo Centric due out November 11, 2003.

The goal of Mary Mary is to spread the word and relate to the world through music, books and entertainment. Tina's pregnancy is just another accomplishment that can be added to a long list of ways Mary Mary has used their life experiences to effect the lives of others.
