What does a prosperous follower of Jesus look like? Is the popular prosperity teaching of many televangelists and pastors really true? Is worldly prosperity the same as Godly prosperity?

These doctrines of Jesus have the true answer!

Jesus said...

Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

Jesus teaches us...

1John 2:15-17 ...not (to) love the world or the things in the world. (For) If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life— is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it...

He teaches us to...

Colossians 3:1-2 Set (our) mind(s) on things above, not on things on the earth.

He told us...

Matthew 6:19-20 ...not (to) lay up for (ourselves) treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but (rather to) lay up for (ourselves) treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

He warned us...

Proverbs 23:17 ...not (to) let (our) heart(s) envy sinners...

And to...

Ezra 9:12 ...never seek their peace or prosperity...

He even told us...

Matthew 6:31-33 ...not (to) worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear? For (our) heavenly Father knows that (we) need all these things. (Rather He said)...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Hebrews 13:5-6 ...He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “ The LORD is my helper; I will not fear.

Remember...

Psalm 34:10those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

However...

Proverbs 28:20...he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

Therefore...

Hebrews 13:5...be content with such things as you have.

Paul himself learned the riches of contentment...

Philippians 4:11-12 (Paul said)...I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

1Timothy 6:6-10 ...godliness with contentment is great gain...we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

BEWARE! Many deceived ministers teach their congregations to pursue being rich; to lay up treasure here on earth and to seek the peace and prosperity of this world. It's important for you to note that the word of Jesus places extremely high value on faithfulness and obedience, while false teachings place the emphasis on worldly success and prosperity. It's more important to Jesus for us to be obedient, which leads to the true riches of Heaven, rather than obtaining the deceptive prosperity of this world. Matthew 13:22 says "...the deceitfulness of riches choke the word..."Proverbs 22:1 says, "A good name is to be chosen rather than riches." Luke 16:15 says, "What is highly valued among men is detestable in God's sight."

Luke 16:14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided (Jesus).
