The Truth Will Set You Free!

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and
searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
(Acts 17:11)

America's Tragedy

by Editor, Jon Hanna

In the wake of what many consider America's most infamous acts of terror, the events of September 11th, have sparked debate as to whether God was responsible or satan. People also want to know 'why' things like this happen which is really the most important question to ask.

In the Old Testament of the Bible, God warns His followers that He will bless them for their obedience. He also warns them that they will be cursed for disobedience (Deut. 11:26&28).

In the book of Deuteronomy God warns His people that they should not forget Him. He tells them that after they've become fruitful and prosperous that they should not get proud and behave as if they themselves have gotten them the victory by their own might or their own righteousness. The penalty for such pride would be destruction. (Deut. 8:11-20)

God allowed His people to be defeated by their enemies when they forsook His laws, statutes, and commands. He also warned them not to learn the ways of the heathen nations round about them or this too would mean crop failure and destruction by their enemies. (Deut. 28:47-52)

When God's people honored Him by obeying His laws and commands they became prosperous, fruitful, victorious and obtained peace with in their borders. This is how America's founding fathers founded our nation, on the principals of God's word. And we have reaped where they have sown. (Deut. 28:1-13)

However, today we are beginning to reap the results of legislatively kicking God out of our schools when prayer was abolished in 1962. We are beginning to reap the results of the legalized murder of multitudes of children while they thrive in their mother's wombs. We are beginning to reap the results of validating the lifestyles of homosexuals which God's word calls perverted and sinful. We are reaping the results of being a country in which 85% of it's citizens claim to be Christian, yet over one-half of all marriages end in divorce. Yes, God still hates divorce.

Unless America repents, no amount of nuclear arsenal will save us. Our allies around the world won't be able save us. Neither will our armies nor our economy save us from the impending doom to come. Unless we repent and turn from our Godless ways nothing else will save us from ultimate destruction. (Revelation 18:7-19)

As we weep for the thousands of people who have lost their lives on September 11th, let us remember to weep for the many millions of American souls who will burn in the lake of fire for all eternity because they refused to obey God's word, follow His ways and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. (Revelation 21:8)

Yes, the wages of sin are still eternal death and torment. However, the gift of God is eternal life. God is ready to heal our land and give us victory over that which would destroy us but, we've got to repent! (John 1:5-10)
