And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him!
Let's took at the key word here: "petitions". According to
Webster's, the word petition means: a formal written document requesting a right or a
benefit from a person in authority; A formal written application requesting a court for a
specific judicial action, as an appeal.
Several years ago, while working in the entertainment business in
Hollywood, I was looking for a place to live. One day I spotted a brand new building with
a sign out front that
"Luxury
Living, Townhouse Apartments. 24 hr. Security, All amenities provided."
Soon after, I moved in, only to find that this building was without hot
water fifty percent of the time; and that cars were being vandalized in our "Private,
24 hr. Security" parking garage right underneath our building!
Needless to say, I was furious, as were all my neighbors. We called
continually with complaints to the manager. Nothing was done.
One day, I decided enough was enough, and I typed out a written
petition stating the promises that were made to me when I moved in (i.e., the signs in
front of the building, etc.).
I also looked up my legal rights as a tenant, and purposely did not pay
my rent that month, knowing this would get some attention and hopefully, a court
appearance. It did.
As I took the stand, armed with all my written proof of what had been
taking place in the building, and began to plead my case to the judge, I could feel a
shift in the atmosphere.
The judge shook his head in disbelief, awarded me everything I had
asked; and demanded that the owner of the building put 24 hr. security in the parking lot,
as was advertised, and fix the-water problem by the end of that week
But, if I hadn't taken the time to WRITE DOWN my request, my petition
would never have been heard.
What do you need from God? What does God's Word say about that need?
Do you know?
How can you ask "according to His will" if you don't know what His will is?
His Word is His will.
Find the promises and scriptures that support your request and write
them down. THEN take it to God in prayer and plead your case!
He is FAITHFUL!
