SIGNS OF A NORTH COAST REVIVAL

by Michele A. Yowler

"Assemble the people before me to hear my words so that they may learn to revere me as long as they live in the land and may teach them to their children." Deut. 4;10b NIV

In August, Pastors Louis and Tina Kayatin along with the congregation of Church on the North Coast, located in the city of Lorain, expectantly assembled for six days of "camp meetings". They gathered to hear the word of God proclaimed and wait upon the presence of the Lord. The meetings were appropriately entitled, "Wall of Fire Camp Meetings". The church has been conducting camp meetings annually for seven years. Joining them were other church congregations located in the city of Lorain; House of Praise and Faith Ministries Christian Center were among them. Several other bodies of believers were represented from all over North Eastern Ohio and the surrounding states. "There is something about it, when you give yourself to 5 or 6 days of nothing but camping out in the presence of the Lord", said Pastor Louis Kayatin, Senior Pastor of Church on the North Coast. Both locally and nationally known pastors, speakers and musical guests were invited to speak. In addition, the attendees were blessed to hear from the anointed man of the house, Pastor Louis Kayatin. The speakers were invited to come and share what they have seen God do in the Body of Christ throughout the world, as well as impart His Spirit through the unique anointing given to them by the Lord.

Entering the church building, I sensed the excitement right away. The smiles and warm reception I received at the entrance ignited a spirit of anticipation within me. The people of God were expecting their Lord to show up. The theme of the meeting was announced with a banner that hung across the back of the stage. It read: "Dream the impossible." Entering into worship, the congregation was quickly brought to its feet to praise and honor the Lord. God's people were encouraged to raise hands in thankfulness as the church choir lifted up the name of Jesus. The burdens of the day and week were soon released and the presence of the Lord was felt amidst the praises. This church body really knows how to honor the Lord and usher in his presence. They, like King David, know how to:

Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always. 1 Cron. 16: 8-11 NIV

In the midst of these God seekers, it soon became apparent that there was a roaring fire being created in the spiritual realm. For those who have yet to experience the manifest presence of our Lord, it has been experienced by this writer as an unveiling of truth. It is a place where the light of the love of God shines brightly and the dark, heaviness of the burdened soul is relieved, and in its place, peace, unexplainable peace fills your soul. It is a time when the creator of the universe gives you eyes to see beyond the burdens of the day and the problems of this lifetime. He allows you to experience a time yet to come. He gives you a glimpse into an eternity where there will be no more tears, no more sorrows, no more bills. In fact, He reminds you that your bill has been paid-in-full by the sacrificial blood of Jesus, the Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the perfect, sinless, Lamb of God. I experienced this at Church On The North Coast's recent weeklong camp meeting.

"For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16

I spoke with many attendees who shared how the Lord went about breaking them out of the bondage to sin and addiction and set them free. Many spoke of how the power of the Holy Spirit broke through defensive walls in their hearts, offering them freedom from the captivity of sin. The Spirit of God brought revelation to many that His word is true, and that He does set the captive free. I spoke with Pat Longhorn, a volunteer at the table where books and audiotapes were being sold. I asked her what the Lord has done for her. She said, "He has totally taken down walls that were put up in the past, in my heart. Sometimes when you walk through life and the enemy tells you that God's word really isn't true, you buy into it. But hearing the word come forth, it pierced the very being of my soul, of my spirit. It set me free. I am a totally new person. I know that the Word of God is freedom. I know that God's Word releases the chains that bind you and that hold you back. It gives you the boldness and the confidence to know that yes, God is there for you, and yes, God has blessings for you, even though you've messed up, and you've made mistakes. The enemy tries to get you to believe his lies. It doesn't matter, because God intervenes for you and brings you through and makes you the person he needs you to be."

The Spirit of God is moving in Northeast Ohio and it is being felt throughout the area. People are being drawn to meetings like this one by His Spirit. They are seeking His manifest presence. People like Pat Broom from the Macedonia area. She attends service at Kingdom Life Center, a church plant from her previous church in the New Jersey area. I spoke with her on the evening Pastor Kayatin was speaking. "I've been convinced for the eight years that I was gone, [living in New Jersey], and since I've come back, that God really wants to do something in the greater Cleveland area. When I heard that the pastor of this church was speaking tonight, I wanted to hear him, I wanted to see what's happening in other parts of the body of Christ in this area. And just be aware of it, because I am expecting a great move of God." she stated.
