Dear God!
by Gail Ramsey
Are demons real? And, if they are, can they hurt you if you are a
Christian? Just curious, Jimmy
Dear Jimmy,
Yes, Demons are very real. They are the fallen angels who followed
Lucifer when he was kicked out of heaven. They are the ones who try to
kill, steal, and destroy everything good in your life.
Christians have always questioned the reality of Satan and the influence
of demons; and many have charged full speed into the dark side of the spiritual
world to search for the answer.
The New Age philosophy teaches that we are gods and can create reality
with our minds. New Age channelers, who are really spiritual mediums, can
be heard on radio and TV bragging about their spirit guides, which are
really demons.
Parapsychology (study of the occult) is becoming accepted as a "science"
in our universities; and fascination with the supernatural is even growing
in our Christian schools.
Christians must remember that Satan appears as "an angel of light"
(2 Corin. 11:14)...very beautiful, very seductive, very appealing. If you
saw him as the ugly deformed creature he really is, you would run!
Studies show that 26 percent of the Christian high school age students
interviewed have played with a ouija board, 16 percent have played Dungeons
& Dragons, and 20 percent have consulted astrologers.
What Christians need to know is that, although they cannot be "possessed"
by a demon if they are born again and filled with the Holy Spirit of God,
they can become oppressed, depressed, and repressed by choosing to engage
in these satanic activities.
When a person willingly enters the devil's domain, (seeking psychic
readings, ouija boards, etc.) he or she is giving the devil and his demons
permission to enter his or her life and destroy it, "the devil walks about
like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8) He needs
your invitation.
But here's the good news: "He who is in you is greater than he who
is in the world." (1 John 4:4)"
In other words Jimmy, God is still the devil's boss!
Please continue to write us. Whatever your question, God has your answer.
And though you may not hear Him audibly, His Word still speaks.
